Bereavement
The Risen Christ in our midst is the “firstborn of the dead” (Col 1:18). Through the light of his Resurrection, Mother Seton parishioners can offer their hope and care for those who grieve the loss of a loved one.
Parishioners are encouraged to call a parish priest first when a family member has died, even before the funeral director or cemetery manager. The priests can offer the consolation of the Church, and guidance on the Funeral Mass and burial in the sacred grounds of a cemetery. The pastor will help you coordinate the Funeral readings, music and hospitality after the burial.
Parishioners who would like to assist the bereaved can help by:
-attending the Vigil, Funeral and Burial as a member of the parish community
-praying for the deceased and their loved ones
-preparing, coordinating and serving meals after the Funeral Mass and burial
-following up with bereaved family members, especially during the first year
Please pray for the souls of all the faithful departed of our parish, especially those who have most recently passed into eternal life.
