Special Note: The Passion of the Christ is being re-released starting March 11, 2005 under the title The Passion Recut. Director Mel Gibson is doing this in response to requests that a less graphically violent version be made, one more suitable for teens and those who fear the violence depicted in the original would be too intense for them. You can hear Mel Gibson's comments about these changes on The Passion Recut web site (click on the link "Mel Gibson's Introduction"). [EWTN recently interviewed Mel Gibson as well. A link to their audio replay of this interview will be added here as soon as EWTN makes it available.]

According to The Passion Recut web site, the closest theater showing The Passion Recut (as of March 11, 2005) is the
Loews Cineplex Rio Cinemas in Gaithersburg. [Click here to see where the film is playing throughout our area.]

"I've just witnessed the rebirth of great Catholic art in our time.

A few days ago I was fortunate to be part of a small group of journalists, pundits, and Christian leaders in Washington, DC, who were invited to an early screening of Mel Gibson's new movie, The Passion.

The film focuses on the last few hours in the life of Christ, and the result is truly stunning. ...

... Mel Gibson has given a beautiful gift to the Church and to God."
