he Sixth Sunday of Easter is a kind of turning point in the 50 Days of Easter. The scripture readings begin more and more to focus on the gift of the Spirit as we move toward celebrating Pentecost Sunday, which is May 11, and Mother’s Day this year. All three readings for the Sixth Sunday of Easter mention the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is preparing His disciples for His death and all that will follow. He promises them and all future generations of Christians, that He will continue to live in them through the presence of His Spirit. Jesus calls on all of us to trust in the Spirit of Truth, who is with us always.
The first reading tells of the Samaritans receiving the Holy Spirit. In the second reading, Peter gives spirit-filled words of encouragement to Christians of every generation. In the Gospel, Jesus promises the gift of the Holy Spirit as He prepares the disciples for His death and all that is to follow.

RETIREMENT OF A PARISH LEADER
Sadly, we must announce the retirement of our parish’s Director of Music and Liturgy, Mrs. Margaret Stack, effective May 11, 2008. Margaret has dedicated 15 years of her life to the people of Mother Seton Parish. When she arrived in 1993, our parish and its music ministry were much smaller. In the years since then, she has enriched our worship by helping us develop the many choirs we now enjoy. Please keep her in your prayers. She will be missed.
Consider Volunteering for the Parish Council
MOTHER SETON PASTORAL COUNCIL elections will be held during the month of May. During April, the Nominating Committee will meet to choose nominees for three vacancies on the Council. If you are interested in having your name, or another parishioner’s name (with his/her consent), considered for nomination, please complete the following form and return it to the Parish Office, or place in the collection basket before Apr. 30, 2007. “Any registered participating Catholic member of MSP who is at least 18 years old may be a member of the Council.” The term of office is 3 years.
