Dear sisters and brothers,This is Respect Life Weekend. The National March for Life is Mon., Jan. 23, 2012, beginning at 11:30 a.m. on the National Mall. Spaces are still available to ride on the bus from St. Martin’s Parish. The bus is leaving from St. Martin’s after the 9 a.m. Mass for all adults and families. The cost for the bus and a bagged lunch is $15, and must be paid when you reserve your seat. Seats are limited. Please call 301-990-2556 for more information. Once you’re downtown, meet up with other Mother Seton parishioners and the youth group in the National Building Museum lobby at 11 a.m.
Did you know that Maryland abortion clinics are regulated as physicians’ offices, NOT as surgery centers? This has led to an extraordinarily high number of maternal deaths and injuries, because without effective regulation, there is no way for the State to ensure that abortion facilities have adequate surgical protocols, emergency procedures, emergency medical equipment, properly trained personnel, or the many safeguards in place in other outpatient surgical facilities in Maryland.
Recently, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene drafted regulations that will do much to protect the health and safety of women undergoing abortions. Although we regret that abortion is legal and causes the deaths of more than a million unborn babies each year in America, it’s important that abortion clinics are regulated as surgical facilities. The draft regulations are open for comment for 30 days, which began Jan. 14, 2012. Visit: www.mdcathcon.org for more information. In Christ,
Fr. Carlos, Pastor

“LEMME OUTTA HERE!” If we could translate baby talk (or baby scream), maybe the little one is trying to tell Mom or Dad that they just need a change of scene. Why not take a short trip to the Narthex (the entry area of the church behind the glass doors), where you can still hear the readings, the homily, Eucharistic prayer, etc., and you can see through the glass. Try out the Narthex the next time a mini-meltdown occurs. We commend and thank all parents who bring their children to Mass.
MARK YOUR CALENDARS: Mar. 3, 2012, Archdiocesan Men’s Conference, and Mar. 24, 2012, Archdiocesan Women’s Conference. More information to follow.
